My inspirations come from a wide variety of sources: a walk in the woods on a crisp autumn day or on the beach on a hot, hazy summer day; a piece of exquisite fabric; a painting; an old photograph; a flower or a bird. The source may vary but the important presence of color and beauty never does.

This colorful painting was created by my friend, Paul Hrusovsky, of Chapel Hill, NC. It hangs in my bedroom where I see it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Paul taught art to both of my sons when they were in elementary school, and he awakened a creative streak in each of them which continues to this day. Whenever I am feeling glum, I sit in front of “Three Exotic Birds”. It never fails to cheer me up.
